Learning Enrichment After School Program

LEAP is a FREE Learning Enrichment After-School Program sponsored by Independent Living, Inc. that serves middle school students with  developmental disabilities from Newburgh and neighboring  communities.

After School Enrichment is offered:

Monday through Thursday between 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM (when schools are in session)  at the center’s fully accessible City of Newburgh headquarters on 5 Washington Terrace.

Transportation to the program from school may be provided by special arrangement with your respective school district.

Parents are responsible for picking their children up by 5:30 PM.

  • If you have a child with a developmental disability who attends Junior High School either in the City of Newburgh, or in a neighboring school district, we   invite you to participate in the Learning Enrichment After-school Program (LEAP).

  • With a student to teacher ratio of 5:1:1, and teachers well qualified in the area of special education, this unique program provides safe, well planned student centered activities and homework  assistance at our fully accessible  location just off Broadway on the corner of Lake St. and Washington Terrace.

  • Students who are a part of the  enrichment program will receive one-on-one assistance from qualified teachers, teacher aides and student mentors.  Students will also be involved in an array of activities which will assist them in making a positive transition to high school and subsequently to a successful and happy adult life.

HOW DO I ENROLL MY CHILD?
