Independent Home Care’s First Annual Gratitude Mixer Celebrates Person-Centered Care

Newburgh, NY – November 14, 2023 – Independent Home Care, Inc., an affiliate agency of Independent Living, Inc., is proud to announce its First Annual Gratitude Mixer, set to take place on Thursday, November 16 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Newburgh Armory. This event holds special significance as it coincides with National Home Care and Hospice Month and is dedicated to celebrating Person-Centered Care.

For the first time, we are bringing together all those who receive home care through our Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program and the dedicated individuals who provide this care in one space. We will celebrate the profound relationships, countless hours of selfless work, and the unwavering commitment to advocating for and providing the means to independence.

The Gratitude Mixer aims to honor the home care consumers and their hardworking, dedicated home health workers who provide invaluable support and services every day. These individuals assist with a wide range of tasks, from mobility and bathing to skilled nursing, making it possible for their consumers to maintain independence and autonomy.

At Independent Home Care, we understand the challenges and barriers that many home care consumers and people with disabilities face, particularly when it comes to attending events. Timing, staffing, and accessibility concerns often restrict participation. This event is designed to be a memorable and joyous occasion, deserving of the dedication shown by our guests who take the time to attend, often requiring assistance to prepare for the day.

The event’s schedule of activities includes networking, lunch, an advocacy presentation from the Caring Majority on Fair Pay for Home Care, awards and recognitions, community provider tabling, connections to services, a testimonial and photo booth, and additional engaging activities.

“We are excited to invite the press to capture the spirit of gratitude, celebration, and advocacy in action,” says Janae Myers, Chief Advancement Officer of Independent Home Care, Inc. and Independent Living, Inc. “This event is a unique opportunity to acknowledge the outstanding work of home care workers and the impact they have on the lives of those they serve. It’s a celebration of community in a way that home care consumers and workers have not experienced before.”

Reporters attending the event will have the chance to capture heartfelt testimonials, powerful relationships, and the crucial advocacy work being done in the home care sector. The highlight of the event will be the presentation of an award to honor an individual who embodies the spirit and passion of Independent Home Care’s Consumer-Direction Program.

We encourage all reporters and media outlets to join us at the First Annual Gratitude Mixer. This event is not only a celebration but also an opportunity to shed light on the essential work that home care workers do and the positive impact they make on the lives of those they care for.
